The Club has participated for a number of years in this annual event, primarily volunteering as a group in the issuing of awards and medals.

Believing What Can Be for the Children of Nashville!

Salvation Army Bell Ringers

With participation by 80% of club members, we stand post as bell ringers for a short time each December for the Salvation Army and its annual bell-ringing fundraiser.

Adopt-a-Highway Program

The Downtown Club is responsible for a one-mile stretch of West End near St. Thomas Hospital.  We assemble a few members twice a year to pick up loose trash along this stretch of "highway."

The Red Shield Family Initiative is our Priority One Project.  An entity of the Salvation Army, the Red Shield effort is a program for the Magness Potter Center near downtown Nashville.  A significant focus has resulted in extended care for families and children, financial aid, and care for needy individuals and families in the area.  In addition to time spent at the community center, Kiwanis' noteworthy role has been the formation of the Up and Over Fund – a monetary fund used for the purpose of assisting those who need that last extra boost to get away from welfare and break that cycle.

The Club has enjoyed a morning of fellowship and coffee on a Saturday morning and a full breakfast on Sunday morning followed by the 2-hour effort of going door-to-door asking for donations for Big Brothers of Nashville.  This takes place in December.
